Organic chem column chromatography. please help if possible?

If I loaded the column with a much larger volume of pigmented solution (tring to isolate b carotene from spinach) , how would that affect the separation of pigments? Initially used 12 mls.. and successfuly isolated yellow pigment b carotene .. now they are asking if I used a greater volume of the solution how would that affect the separation?
